What does 'multitimbral' mean?

A MIDI instrument can sometimes be referred to as being "multitimbral". What exactly does that mean anyway? Simply put, it means that the midi device is capable playing back on all 16 MIDI channels simultaneously, while playing any of it's instrument sounds or patches simultaneously, letting each instrument sound or patch playing on a separate MIDI channel.
